Your team’s guides, on a server you own.
Guidelane Library is a lightweight, self-hosted server solution built to host and manage a unified, shared repository of your Guidelane Studio guides, inside your own private network. Every authorized device can instantly access, search, and manage the exact same workflows, keeping your organization's entire knowledge base synchronized.
- Included with Guidelane Studio Business
- Runs across your existing infrastructure, with native support for Docker, Kubernetes, Linux, macOS, Windows, or Proxmox VE.
- Requires no cloud account whatsoever. Your data is permanently isolated, nothing ever routes through Guidelane servers.
Included in the 7-day Guidelane Studio trial. After the trial, each user needs a Business license.
For teams of every size
Whether managing a single office, a research lab, a customer support desk, or an entire enterprise infrastructure—everyone on your team works from the exact same guides, synchronized across every device.
On hardware you already have
No need for expensive new equipment. Deploy the library server on a spare Mac or PC, a standard Linux server, a Kubernetes cluster, a Proxmox VE host, or any NAS that runs Docker containers.
Private by design
Complete data sovereignty. Guides travel exclusively between your devices and your self-hosted server over an encrypted connection. Your data never passes through Guidelane servers or any other third-party service provider.
Up and running in minutes.
-
Install
Install the Guidelane Library server onto a dedicated server or any spare machine within your private network.
-
Create your library
Launch the web admin portal in your browser, set a secure password, and give your shared library a name.
-
Connect devices
Guidelane Studio automatically detects the server on your local network. Instantly approve individual devices, send email invites, or push the app out pre-configured to your network.
-
Sync & collaborate
That's it. Every guide your team saves is instantly synchronized across all connected workstations, building a unified source of truth.
You decide which devices join.
There are no user accounts to manage. A device asks to join, you verify that the security code on your admin panel matches the one on their screen and click approve. Want to skip the manual step? Issue a secure invitation link so devices can pair instantly without waiting for authorization.
- Full overview: Track every single connected machine from a single dashboard, showing active software licenses and recent connection timestamps.
- Instant control: Revoke access and disconnect any device immediately with a single click.
- Single-use invitations: Generate single-use invitations that automatically expire after 24 hours to prevent unauthorized access.
Keep working, even when the server is offline.
Network drops shouldn't stop your team. Every device maintains its own localized copy of the library. If the server goes down, users can keep recording, editing, and building workflows completely uninterrupted—their changes will automatically sync the moment connection is restored. And if two users happen to update the exact same guide, both versions are preserved so no knowledge is ever lost.
- Automatic sync: Updates, revisions, and new guides propagate to every team member’s device silently in the background.
- Real-time sync status: A clear visual indicator on each guide instantly shows you when changes are queued and waiting to be published.
- Enforced privacy: Peace of mind is built in—only finalized guides with pre-redacted screenshots are permitted to upload to the server layer.
Deploy Guidelane Studio to every company device, ready to use.
Eliminate the friction of manual setups. Roll out Guidelane Studio using Jamf Pro, Microsoft Intune, Kandji, or Group Policy. The admin dashboard instantly generates native configuration profiles for macOS and policy files for Windows. When your team opens Guidelane Studio for the very first time, the application is already fully licensed and pre-connected to your network library.
- Enrollment codes: Authorize batch deployments easily by setting a maximum device cap and a specific expiration date for enrollment.
- Revocable at any time: Revoke a deployment code at any time without disrupting the devices that have already joined.
- Hardcoded server locking: Enforce strict data boundaries by ensuring the app connects exclusively to your designated server.
Install it the way your servers already run.
No complex environment modifications required. Every deployment option automatically configures the server on its first initialization and registers it to stay running through system reboots. The moment it spins up, you get an instant web admin address and a secure, one-time setup token to finalize configuration.
- Docker, on 64-bit Intel and ARM
- Kubernetes, using our dedicated Helm chart
- Linux, with a single command installation that instantly registers a native background service.
- macOS, using Homebrew
- Windows, as a native service that activates automatically on system boot
- Proxmox VE, spin it up inside a lightweight container using a single automated script
Then open https://192.168.1.20:7443/admin, enter the setup code and choose a password.
Built to stay inside your network.
Encrypted and verified
The server creates its own certificate during setup, or uses one from your company’s certificate authority. Guidelane Studio remembers the server’s key and refuses any other server at the same address.
Business licenses only
Every device that joins needs a Guidelane Studio Business license or an active trial. The server verifies licenses offline, without ever contacting Guidelane servers.
Every guide is checked
The server validates each guide before storing it and never opens a screenshot. Guidelane Studio uploads only guides whose screenshots are redacted.
Keep it off the internet
Guidelane Library is designed for your private network, behind your router or firewall. Every device that joins can view, edit and delete every guide, so connect only company devices.
About Guidelane Library.
What does Guidelane Library cost?
It is included with Guidelane Studio Business, at no extra cost. Each user needs a Business license.
Can I try it before I buy?
Yes. The Guidelane Studio trial includes Guidelane Library for 7 days. After the trial, a device needs a Business license to join and open the library’s guides.
How many devices can join?
As many as you need. Each device checks in with the server every 30 seconds with a small request, so even a large team adds little load.
Does the server need an internet connection?
No. It checks licenses by their signature, so it works on a network with no internet access at all.
Can I reach it from outside the office?
Not directly, and it should never be exposed to the internet. Remote teams can connect through their company VPN, as if they were in the office.
How do I back it up?
Back up its data folder, which holds every guide, the list of connected devices and the admin password. In Guidelane Studio, “Back up library” also saves every guide into one file.
Are the stored guides encrypted?
Guides are encrypted on their way between Guidelane Studio and the server. On the server they are stored as files, so keep its data folder on an encrypted disk.
What happens if the server stops?
Everyone keeps working in their own copy of the library. Changes are kept on each device and sync once the server is running again.
How do I update it?
Run the installer again, pull the latest image, or upgrade the Helm chart. Your guides and settings are kept.
Where are the setup guides?
On GitHub, with the Helm chart, the Docker Compose files and the Proxmox VE script.
Try it with your team for 7 days.
Guidelane Library is included in the Guidelane Studio trial. After that, Business is a one-time purchase of $79 per license, with no subscriptions.
